August 5th - 18th, 2012 Emmaus Åland organises a work camp exclusively for Emmaus people and those who have a special interest in our movement. We can host around 15 persons during two weeks. The work, which takes place at Emmaus Åland in Mariehamn and Godby, includes building work, sorting second-hand clothes and loading bales and boxes with second-hand goods to be sent to the kindergarten Cuna Nazareth in Lima, Peru.

We also arrange the annual Hiroshima Day commemoration on the 6th of August and the Emmaus Street Market during the Cultural Night Festival in Mariehamn. The most important happening during the Cultural Night is the Emmaus Fashion Show, a performance in which we, the participants of the Emmaus work camp, perform on stage dressed in different second-hand outfits, together with local recycled models.

During the camp we'll get to know other Emmaus people, share ideas and new methods of working together. The camp programme also includes workshops, excursions, study visits, biking tours and sauna bathing. Emmaus Åland covers costs for food, lodging in a youth centre and the organised programme.

The working language of the camp is English.
