Kakelhallen (Tiled Hall,) Art Gallery has existed since 1996 on the first floor of a former dairy in Mariehamn. Operated non-commercially by an independent work group under the Åland Peace Association, it provides an alternative setting for art in Mariehamn. The Gallery primarily exhibits topical contemporary Nordic art, with works by both interesting established artists and noteworthy younger artists. Its programme covers painting, sculpture, graphics, photography, video, performance and installations.
