EMMAUS ÅLAND SUMMER CAMP 2017
The Åland Islands, Finland, July 29th – August 13th 2017. Solidarity & Human Rights!
The 2017 camp is full!
Emmaus Åland annually puts on a solidarity work camp for Emmaus people and those who have a special interest in our movement. The work includes collection and sorting of second-hand goods, gardening, and other Emmaus work tasks. During the camp we also arrange the annual Hiroshima Day commemoration on the 6th of August and the Emmaus Festival in Mariehamn on the 10th–12th of August.
Over the course of the camp we get to know other Emmaus people and we share ideas and new methods of working together. The camp programme focuses on the struggle for human rights, with Western Sahara as a case study. In workshops held during the camp, we learn more about Western Sahara and how to work for human rights. Camp participants are invited to bring musical instruments, as the camp will take part in cultural performances. There will also be time for excursions, study visits, biking tours and sauna bathing.
Emmaus Åland covers costs for food, lodging in a youth centre, and the organised activities. The working language of the camp is English. We are able to host about 12 participants. Participants from Western Sahara will be joining the camp.
Please fill in the application form and send it to us before April 27th, 2017.
