The Åland Islands Peace Association-Emmaus believes in equal value and inviolability of all human beings. A war is, as we see it, not only military actions, but also all the injustice, conflicts, violence and unfairness where human life is disrespected.  We think that all people have the right to develop themselves into their full potential.  We absolutely think this is a condition for peace.

Peace is:
• Absence of an armed conflict
• Fair world system of law and order
• Equality between sexes, among classes  of society,among races, language groups and religions
